Four Months Old

You are 4 months old today! Wow, seriously, my lady, where is time going?

You are still as sweet as ever. You laugh quite a bit now and you really enjoy your big sister playing with you. We have to watch her because she thinks she is stronger than she is and likes to pick you up and carry you!

You babble so much and you are constantly chewing on your hands and anything else that you can get your hands on.

Your hair is so wild and out of control, it is so cute! You got your first “pony tail” this month. You are not very interested in tummy time or rolling… You are perfectly content in the bouncer or bumbo watching everybody around you.

You still spit up often, you bathe Daddy and me quite often! You once spit up right as I was kissing your lovely lips. Yum!

You are growing too fast, my little lumpia…. I am trying to live every moment and enjoy your most precious and fleeting times.

Love, Mama.

Three Months

My sweet Granoly you are three months old already!

I so enjoy your warming smiles you give me in exchange for mine. Your chuckle-y laugh is so cute! It has become our routine, every time I change your diaper, you know I am going to kiss-tickle you in your underarm as soon as I lift your arm.

Every new milestone gets harder and harder for me, my love. They are bitter-sweet because I love seeing you grow but it saddens me that they might be my last firsts.

Your sisters, oh your sisters love you so. I love seeing how much they love you and want to hold you and carry you and change you. Your oldest sister is keeping a mental list of all your milestones. “Smile, check. Laugh, check. Roll over, check.”

I love your sweet milky scent, your unruly hair that is finally long enough to not stick straight up. Your kissable lips, observant self, and overall sweet nature.

I thank God everyday for blessing me with you.

12 months old

My sweet baby girl, today you turned one. How time has flown… I sit here, with you resting your head on my chest, musty, unruly hair, breathing slow and steady, I am at a loss for words. Completely overwhelmed by this motherly love. You will not remember this day when you are grown up, but I always will. I will remember how I wondered where this year had gone and afraid of just how fast life will pass us by. So all I can do tonight is to take in the little things…

Your little things this last month:

You got two more teeth, you have a total of eight! You have almost mastered walking, only crawling when you want to get somewhere fast.

You love being outside, playing in the dirt, on the driveway, in the water, anywhere as long as it’s outside.

You color! You smart little cookie, you like to steal Sister’s papers and crayons so you can color with them. You also did your first finger painting– yes, of course Mama saved it!

You like to go through the trash and find little treasures to play with.

You love to dance! You cannot resist the urge to dance when any sort of beat is playing, including the washer. The other day, Daddy, Sister, you and I had the greatest dancing party ever! It was so much fun to see you full of life and laughter.

You are strong and a daring, not afraid to try to get off the bed or the couch by yourself or climb up chairs, often resulting in bumps and scratches. You keep me on my toes!

You love your big sister, and it is such a joy to watch you play together.

You have brought us so much joy in just one year, my little girl, I cannot wait for many more to come. I pray that I would be a good mother, lead you by example and that you would grow into a beautiful woman of God.

Happy birthday, sweet girl.

Watch her grow, month by month.

11 months

Eleven months, eleven months.

My Pumpkin you are eleven months!

This month was so much fun, you got another tooth in, which makes it a total of five.

You started standing up at the most random times, practicing picking things up.

You have also ventured into taking more and more steps!

You also have started acquiring a little vocabulary, you say hi, bye, no, sister and our most favorite one ever: “love ya”. It warms our hearts every time you say it!

We love being able to communicate with you and how you interact with us. One day, you were sitting in your high chair eating and Daddy asked if your food was good, you nodded so big we laughed. You laughed, too, silly girl. So now you nod all the time. “Do you want milk?” Excited nod. “Are you hungry?” Nod. “Would you like some more?” Nod nod. You also give lots of random nods.

You love, love to eat. You like to do it yourself, and have even been trying to figure out utensils.

You struggled with constipation again this month. It was so hard for us to watch you in pain, my love! We had to take you to the doctor so he could help you go, because all the juice we were giving you was not cutting it.

When Mama went back to work, you refused to have bottles, only to have a nice long nursing session when I got home. You are taking them better now, although you still prefer Mommy’s milk straight out of the tap!

Oh, my crazy girl, you got yourself in a pickle not too long ago. You decided to climb up on the bottom shelf of a side table and got stuck! Don’t worry, I took a picture while Daddy helped you out.

And the cutest things you have started doing! You love to get Sister’s pink purse and hang it on your shoulder and then crawl away with it. You try to put on hats on your head, shoes on your feet, it’s so cute to watch!

You love to blow us kisses, and we love it even more!

My sweet, precious Pumpkin, I love you so very much.

I love your sweet stretches upon waking up.

I love how much you show affection to your baby dolls.

I love little smirks and your frowns, and your wrinkly-nosed smiles.

I love the way you sit up, stand, jump, or do other silly, crazy things while you nurse.

But my favorite thing I love about you is you.

"Okay, Mama, I'm done."

10 Months Old

My lady, you are 10 months old!

You have now been more time outside of my womb than in it, and that makes me a bit teary-eyed.

You went through so much this month, we went on your first road trip/vacation. You have decided you do not like the car seat since then!

You are still in love with Mama. Just yesterday, I left while you were napping and when you woke up, you were very happy with Daddy, then you left the room, crawled to the next one, pushed the door open and looked to see if I was sitting on the computer. When you didn’t find me there, you started crying!

Your hair has decided to curl, it is so cute!

You have two more teeth, the top middle ones. I love your little chompers. Ever since they started coming through, you make the silliest under-bite face while you try to feel them.

You have quite the summer tan and beautiful tan lines on your chubby rolls.

You, all of a sudden, dislike are terrified of taking a bath. You love swimming in the big pool, though.

You put everything. in. your. mouth. and you eat it. You are also a quick snatcher! If you sit on our laps, we have to move everything far away from you because you will take things in the blink of an eye. You have spilled several plates of food.

You have a tendency to crawl with random objects in your hands like: rocks, sticks, Sister’s shoes, balls, and once you tried to pull an inflatable pool raft. It was a bit too large. Silly girl!

You also started standing up on your own, right out of a sitting position. You give us the brightest smile when you stand, proud of your accomplishment.

You took one step, (or so Daddy says) but I am not counting it because I didn’t see it!

I love your silly laugh, and the way you wrinkle your nose when you smile. I love your wet, open-mouth kisses and sweet breath. I love feeling your deep breathing on me and caressing your sweaty head when you sleep.

I love your deep laugh when you know you are about to have some milk. I love your crab-like crawl when you’re on the grass or on concrete. I love when you pretend to let somebody else to hold you only to smile and turn back and hug me.

I love you, my love.

9 months old

Pumpkin, you turned 9 months old today!

I love your fun personality, you are so sweet, so happy and bring us so much joy.

You finally got some teeth this month, after weeks and weeks of teething, the little buggers came in.

You now have two on the bottom and just got one on the top and are working on one next to that one!

You are trying really hard to walk already, you crazy girl! You hold yourself up and you are getting braver and braver everyday and are letting go.

You are a mother lover…still. I really appreciate all the love you have for me, my Pumpkin, but I wouldn’t mind if you started broadening your horizons and letting other people hold you for more than a few minutes at a time.

Your favorite activities right now are getting in the laundry room and scattering the dog’s food all over the place and trying to eat it; and playing with the toilet water. Yuck! You are just too quick!

You are wanting to be in the middle of the action when Sister and Cousins are playing lately. The other day, they were having a pillow fight and all you wanted to do is sit right by them and watch their fun.

A not so fun issue this month has been that you’ve had a really hard time going “potty”. You cry and strain and I cry along with you. You have now acquired a taste for prune juice 😉

You are always so busy, determined to get to where you’re going. On a mission.  It is so fun so watch your little legs and arms work in harmony, in full mode, crawling swiftly. Leaving dirty feet and knees for Mama to scrub at bath time.

You learned to give high-fives and clap this month. Mawni also taught you how to give sweet kisses. You are a stubborn little girl, though, you pretend to not be listening when we ask for kisses, look the other way and smirk, then finally you turn and open wide and give us a nice wet kiss!

Despite the fact that I’m worn out and maybe a little grumpy at the end of a long day of holding my little mama’s girl, I still haven’t tired of you! You are a ray of sunshine, my happy girl.

8 months old

My Pumpkin, you are now 8 months old!

Time is flying by swiftly past us and I’m trying to grab on to something, for just a second. To pause. So I click, I click away and take pictures that way I can forever pause your precious moments in time.

This past month you had so many accomplishments, you got two teeth at pretty much the same time.

You also started to crawl and shortly after, you decided you wanted to see the world from a little bit higher up. So you now pull yourself up and stand and look around, proudly.

Every time I walk by a mirror while holding you, you get very excited and wave frantically at yourself.

You have also started saying “bye”, which sounds more like “buh”.

You wave and say buh all the time, at the most random moments, it’s so cute!

You love Big Sister, you like to crawl over to her bed and pull her hair and pat her head when she is sleeping.

You are still fighting sleep with all your might. The other night you were so tired, I had tried for half an hour to rock, cuddle and nurse you to sleep, but as soon as your body would start to slumber, you would stiffen up and swing your body back up. So I gave up, letting you crawl all over the bed at your disposal. You were climbing over Daddy and I back and forth like a zombie, resting at times until one time you just didn’t get up. You had crashed.

You are still a Mama’s girl, and you cry when I’m around because all you want is for me to hold you.

But you do have your moment when you play independently, and it is so beautiful to watch you.

To watch your perpetual frown and the way you concentrate as you discover the world around you.

It’s a pleasure being your mother, my little pumpkin.
